The friends
of volvo museum

The friends of Volvo Museum is a non-profit organisation run by enthusiasts who help us spread the word about the museum. Thanks to them, we also get invaluable help in finding and restoring vehicles and other objects to add to our collection. Do you want to know more? Visit their website at:

How to get here
By car

From E6, E20, main road 40 or main road 45:

  • Drive towards Göteborg and Hisingen.
  • Choose road 155 towards Öckerö/Torslanda.
  • Follow signs towards Volvo Arendal, Arken and Volvo Museum.
  • Pass Arken on your left side and take the next road to the left to enter the Arendal area
  • After 300 meters, turn left on Arendals Skans and the Museum will shortly appear on your left side

Location: 57 41′ 42” N     11 49′ 11” E

There’s free parking outside the museum. Campers are very welcome and there is usually plenty of room along the fence facing the waterfront at the side of the Museum. Please ask the reception for a parking permit upon arrival.

By bus/tram

The closest bus stop is called Arendals Skans. If you’re coming from the city centre, the easiest way to get here is to first go to Eketrägatan (tram 5, 6 or 10). Then change to bus 32 towards Volvo Torslanda (via Arendal).

* Get off at Arendals Skans and follow the signs. The museum is located about 100 metres from the bus stop (close to the water).

* N.B. On weekends, you need to call ahead and book bus 32 for it to depart. Call Västtrafik (the public transport company) at +46-31-788 07 89 at least one hour before the departure time. This applies also for the trip from the Museum. Our Reception will be happy to assist to book your return trip.

By boat

Göteborgs Hamntur (Gothenburg’s Harbour Tour) takes you from the city centre to the museum – onboard a classic ship from the turn of the 19th century.

Available for groups via reservation only. Please contact http://www.vastkustlinjen.se/cruises for more information.

Arriving in your own boat? There are three berths in the nearby guest harbour reserved for our visitors.
